Musky, oily aromas of wet stone, smoke and pineapple. Then broad, rich and chewy in the mouth. A powerful, distinctly granitic style of riesling; ripe, captivating and very long on the aftertaste.

Medium deep red. Aromas of raspberry, cherry and spicy oak; not unlike a good Pommard. Sweet, supple and ripe, with lovely texture and harmonious bright acidity. Finishes with fine, sweet tannins and excellent length. "F" is for Furstentum; these are 30 year-old-vines planted on mainly ferrous-marly soils.

Peach and mirabelle fruit are evident here but in the background, and notes of mushroom are especially persistent, along with peat-like smokiness and invigorating salinity, fruit skin tartness, and white pepper pungency. This polished performance comes from behind to deliver considerable complexity, and should be fascinating to follow over the next 3-5 years

Relatively dry on the palate, has an intense bouquet of rose petal and pineapple, with a splendid concentration of spicy flavor on the palate and enough acidity to balance its alcohol and give the wine freshness. It signs off with a splendidly long, slightly smokey finish, and is a wine to please the most exacting Alsace aficionado. Serve it from a decanter, suggest the Blancks, with natural goose livers.
