MONTENISA
Italy
The Montenisa Estate is located in the heart of the Franciacorta production zone around the centuries-old hamlet of Calino. The vine has always been cultivated in this area of important wines. Some, in fact, maintain that “Franciacorta” has its origin in the phrase “Petite France”, an affectionate name given to it by Charlemagne. The varieties that give the best results in Franciacorta are all cultivated here: Chardonnay, with its typical aromas of fruit and flowers; Pinot Noir, which gives structure and personality; and Pinot Blanc, savory and mineral in character. The more recent vineyards, planted in a parcel surrounded by walls, known locally as a “brolo”, have been planted to produce great grapes for great wines. The attentive varietal selection and the application of the most rigorous standards aimed at safeguarding the environment make the vineyards and Montenisa a highly prestigious estate. The bottled wines age on their lees for lengthy periods and the remuage is still carried out reserving the maximum care and attention to each and every individual bottle. The result of this invaluable accumulated experience in fermenting and aging the wines is a perfect expression of the territory of production.
