Dow's Fine White ages mainly in wood, gaining a rich golden colour and an intense rich nutty aromatic complexity. A certain amount of wine is not wood-aged and is blended in to add freshness and fruit character. On the palate, balanced and smooth.

Has a deep opaque ruby colour with a red rim. On the nose showing a striking aromatic display of lovely rich fresh blackberries and dark plums combined with concentrated scents of summer violets, roses, and peppery spices. On the palate with perfect balance and good length, it is packed with mouth-filling flavours of gummy dark berries, black cherries and floral hints. Deep dark ruby nice nose of plum, raisin and licorice, full body with great balance and long finish. Still a baby but drinking well with smooth tannins.

The very hot climate through the summer at this vineyard results in highly complex and concentrated wines but very low yields. Colours of the musts in the fermentation tanks are always purple-black due to the very high skin to juice ratio. The old vines add further to the intensity of the wine as they make up a very large percentage of the vineyard. The resulting wine can be described as being the essence of Vintage Port, with powerful wild red-fruit flavours, leading into rich black chocolate notes, the whole balanced by complex, attractive and peppery tannins.

Aromatic and floral, with an excellent balance of fruit, tannin and acidity. The palate starts off with fresh green figs and ends with bitter chocolate. There is fresh acidity and a notable minerality.
